A typical single-level exterior repaint takes 2 to 3 weeks, and a two-storey home or villa 3 to 5 weeks. Most of that time is preparation. Rain and humidity can add days, so we plan the schedule around the weather and keep you updated.
How do Davis Painters prepare and protect my home?
We protect the property, clean and prepare surfaces, address peeling coatings and treat affected areas before repainting. We use suitable Resene paint systems, schedule exterior work around Auckland’s weather and finish with a final walk-through and tidy-up. For pre-1980 homes, we test for lead paint and follow WorkSafe guidance.
When is the best time to paint a house exterior in Auckland?
Late spring to early autumn is usually best, because paint cures properly in drier, warmer conditions. We paint exteriors year-round when the weather allows, and avoid painting when rain is forecast or surfaces are damp.

What paint do you use?
We use Resene paint systems. Davis Painters is a certified Resene Eco.Decorator, so we use sustainable, waterborne products where suitable and manage waste through the Resene PaintWise programme.
Are Davis Painters insured?
Yes. We carry liability insurance on all our work. If anything falls short of your expectations, we put it right quickly.
Do you offer a guarantee on your work?
Yes. Every job is backed by a workmanship guarantee of at least 3 years, on top of the manufacturer’s warranty on the Resene paint we use.
Can you paint older villas and bungalows?
Yes. Character homes are a big part of our work in suburbs like Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, Mt Eden and Remuera. For homes built before 1980 we test for lead paint and follow WorkSafe guidelines for safe removal.
Do you paint kitchen cabinets?
Yes. We remove the cabinet doors and spray them off-site, because a proper spray finish isn’t possible inside a home. The result is a smooth, durable, factory-style finish.
Do you remove wallpaper and do plastering?
Yes. We strip wallpaper and repair and plaster walls and ceilings as part of the prep, so the paint goes onto a smooth, sound surface.
Do you paint roofs, decks and fences?
Yes. Roof painting is only carried out with appropriate roof protection systems in place. We also stain and oil decks and paint fences, louvres, trellises and doors, either with a house repaint or as a separate job.
Can you paint my house before I sell it?
Yes. We do pre-sale touch-ups and full repaints to get a property ready for listing photos and open homes, and can work to tight timeframes.
